5) A well established teaching among students of prophecy is that the prophetic clock "stopped" at the death of Christ; (others put it at AD 70 at the destruction of Jerusalem). Most say that the "clock" (actually a 490-year countdown) started from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem as given to Nehemiah. As we shall see, this same prophecy also points to the sign of Y2K, when the computer clocks entered into an eternal time loop (unless corrected). This of course does not affect actual time, but nevertheless, the sign is there and it speaks of the "four corners of the earth" (Rev. 7:1) being stilled as if constant at that position forever. (See Rev. 7:1 where he marks His elect out of this world---144000 men, which is also the number of days in 400 years---the length of time the Israelites sojourned in Egypt. Compare all this with the 40 and 4000 year cycles of the prophetic calendar as it relates to Y2K. In the context of Y2K---that night of world-wide revelry---I think the 144000 symbolizes the elect of all generations---first the Jew, then also the Gentiles. (This 5th point is lengthy so we will Summary summarize it afterward.)

5a) From the decree to Nehemiah:

Dan. 9 speaks of certain things determined to occur within a 490 year period. (This 490-year period is made up of 70 "weeks" of years.) The prophecy states that from the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Messiah comes would be 483 years. The remaining 7 years is said to be a time of tribulation for the world and particularly the Jewish nation (Rev. 7:14). The 490 itself is based upon the idea of jubilees (see Dan. 9:25) in that 490 is 10 jubilees of 49 years each. (The 50th year of every 49-year cycle was called the year of jubilee.) The countdown is said to commence from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (after its destruction by the Babylonians in 586 BC). Of the four possible decrees that could fit this prophecy, most bible scholars say that the decree of Artaxerxes in 445 BC (some say 444 BC) allowing Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem best fits the terms of the prophecy.

(Exactly how this prophecy was initially fulfilled is beyond the scope of our study here. Essentially it meant an non-adjusted year of 360 days x 483 years from the spring of either 445 or 444 BC, thus ending in either the spring of AD 32 or 33. However, the decree to Cyrus in 458 BC is even more compelling---and is simply 483-490 (normal) prophetic years to AD 26, 30 and 33, etc.)

As said, the jubilees occurred on 49-years cycles with the 50th year the jubilee year---and that the 490 of Daniel has this jubilee structure in mind. (Note that the prophetic calendar also makes much of this---with the 483, 490 etc., climaxing with the even 500-year cycle---as discussed elsewhere.) Now it happens that from this decree of 445/444 BC, until Y2K (and the following year), are exactly 49 x 50 years (i.e.,  490 x 5 years, less 7 years). This 49 x 50 format therefore highlights the jubilee structure wherein the 50th year of the 49-year cycle is the jubilee. Hence, 49 x 50 (or 5 x 490) years is a very significant number. As we shall see next, from this decree, till Y2K, is precisely this---49 x 50 years. Thus, Y2K has to do with the starting/stopping of the prophetic clock in partial fulfillment of the prophecy in Dan. 9:24---for it is Y2K-day that gives the coordinates whereby "the vision and prophecy,"  as it relates to the calendar, is established.

"Seventy weeks (i.e., 490 day/years) are decreed as to your people and as to your holy city, to finish the transgression and to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy."

The decree to Nehemiah in 445 BC (Neh. 2:8) + 490 x 5 years = AD 2006 (i.e., the mirror of Jacob's birth; see "4a")

Spr. of AD 2006 less 7 years = spr. of AD 1999. Plus 9 months (pregnancy) = Y2K (Jan. 1, 2000)

Or if from the alternative date of 444 BC for the decree, add plus one year all (note, Jacob could have been born as early as fall of 2007 BC.)

But why the 9 month gap, from spr. of 1999 until Y2K (etc.)?

Briefly, the seven years gap between spr. 1999 and spr. 2006 would have two leap months in it. (1260 + 30 days = 1,290 days x 2.)

As from the Exodus---AD 2000 (fall)  [or 2001 (spr.)] would be a leap month year, and AD 2006 (fall) [or 2007 (spr.)] would be a leap month year. Hence, there would be either 1260 + 1,290 days in that prophetic-calendar seven-year period, or more likely 1,290 + 1,290 days.

A typical 280-day pregnancy from spr. of 1999 (or 2000) unto Dec. 25, 1999 (or 2000), + 2300 days (of Daniel 8:14) = 1,290 x 2 days (of Dan. 12:11). (I.e., 280 + 2300 = 1,290 x 2.)

The 2300 (1150 x 2) of Daniel had its initial fulfillment (as commonly interpreted by scholars) in the abomination of Antiochus Epiphanies in 168-165 BC. Both the abomination and the cleansing of the temple 3 years later occurred on Kislev 25 (Dec. 25), 165 BC. Therefore, Dec. 25th is the Gregorian calendar equivalent of this date and thus the 2300 (and the 1,290 x 2) begins from (or ends) upon its own anniversaries. Thus the prophecy of the 490 is thereby shown to be exact, not merely to the very year---but indeed to the very day as well.

It can also be shown that Kislev 25 of the Jewish lunar calendar, and Dec. 25th of the prophetic calendar (of AD 2000) are likewise at the start of a 2300-day period [and end of an 1150-day period too!]. This is particularly significant in that from the Exodus/Tabernacle (1446/5 BC) until AD 2006 are 1150 x 3 years. Hence, 1150 x 3 years intersects with 1150 x 3 days. (Compare this with the 1335 x 3 years from Jacob's birth in 2006 BC, and the 1,290 x 3 years from the Entry into Egypt in 1876 BC, etc.)

After 1150 days, the temple was cleansed of Antiochus's abominations (on Kislev 25, 165 BC). Then there was the sign of Hanukah---which means "the rededication" (Jn. 10:22), also known as the festival of lights because it is said that the light of the lamp in the temple miraculously lasted seven extra days when it was first lit (at the cleansing). Likewise, after the Messiah, "the light of the world," was born on 1 BC, Dec. 25th (traditionally, that is), He was then circumcised and received His name "Jesus" 7 days later (i.e., "the eight day" inclusive) on AD 1, Jan. 1st.

Thus, Y2K (and the new millennium) is on this anniversary---the anniversary of when The Light of the World was named and circumcised---2,000 (less one) years later. And Y2K is a day that intersects a very important juncture to do with the prophecy of the 490 in Dan. 9, which is understood by most scholars to indirectly speak of a stopping and restarting of the prophetic clock. And as we saw, Y2K is the very day prophesied about as to when the "the vision and prophecy" as it concerned the bible numbers (and hence the length of a calendar year) would be revealed.
